HackShield reaches over 208,000 new players in 2025

  Monday 9 February, 2026

In 2025, HackShield once again made significant progress in strengthening children’s digital resilience. More than 208,000 new players engaged with the HackShield serious game, learning in a playful way how to navigate the online world safely and consciously.

For children, being online is primarily about fun. They play games, explore, and connect. HackShield deliberately builds on this reality, helping children approach online situations with confidence, whether it’s safe gaming, online behaviour, or recognising potential risks.

“We want children to feel confident online. Not driven by fear, but by enjoyment and understanding. With HackShield, we prepare children for digital risks such as cyberbullying, grooming, online fraud, and emerging technologies like AI. This enables them to safely enjoy the positive sides of the internet and to know what to do when something doesn’t feel right,” says Emily Jacometti, co-founder of HackShield.

Impact in and beyond the classroom

In 2025, 559 class quests were completed, and HackShield introduced three new levels and a new class quest. Together with partners from the private sector and education, 213 guest lessons were delivered by 168 guest teachers. Through these lessons, partners collectively reached more than 7,200 students. In addition, 216 Cyber Agents were officially honoured. HackShield is currently active in 8 countries.

Behind the scenes, development continued as well. HackShield improved its class competition system, introduced a renewed impact approach, and developed a localisation tool to support international deployment.

Looking ahead

In 2026, HackShield will continue to focus on international expansion, deeper impact measurement, and long-term collaboration with schools and partners. With one clear ambition: working towards 10,000,001 Cyber Agents who grow up strong, aware, and safe online.
